Am I really as neurotic as I feel?

About me

Blogger:
I'm a jumble of neuroses--some good, some bad, some just plain weird. I love the Iowa Hawkeyes. I'm intensely loyal to my friends. I would love to earn a living by traveling around the world taking pictures. It's a difficult journey to the center of my soul. Several have tried, none have succeeded, and a few have nearly exhausted themselves in the process. I'm not an open book, but sometimes I read like one. I like dogs.

At 4:22 p.m. 25 years ago today, I came shooting out of my mom.  The story goes that I was a kicky baby, never afraid to remind my mom that I was, in fact, still inside.  The morning of my birth, I stopped moving around.  No kicking, no moving, no nothing.  My mom tried to get my dad to come in from the field and take her to the hospital to make sure everything was okay.  Keep in mind I was almost two weeks overdue.  My dad said yeah, sure, he'd be in in a few minutes.  Time passed, mom got more anxious, and tried to call my dad in again.  Sure, sure, he's almost done.  Finally my mom threatened to take herself to the hospital, take their son with her, and never look back if he didn't get his ass in from the field and take her to the hospital.

They're still together.

Note to Coach...

(though he realized this after the fact)

When your team is up by 9 points at the end of the 4th quarter and you have the ball on 4th and 1 on the 9 yard line and you decide to kick the ball for a field goal...don't. Go for it.

I can understand why you would kick the ball. But, as happened today, the kick can get blocked and returned more than halfway down the field, leading to a touchdown by the other team. The other team scoring a touchdown is not good. Especially when they would need just a field goal (after an onside kick) to take the lead and win the game.

**Fortunately for us, the onside kick was not successful (or successful, from our perspective) and we won the game.**

So remember, Coach. Go for it.

p.s. I still love you!
